Vandal Targets Vehicles in Nicetown

Tires were flattened on nearly two dozen vehicles in another Philadelphia neighborhood.

Residents of a five block area of Nicetown woke up to find the tires on their vehicles punctured Wednesday morning.

Philadelphia Police say tires were slashed on 19 cars parked on the following streets:

  • 1900 block of Ruffner
  • 3900 block of Priscilla
  • 3900 block of Donath
  • 1900 block of West Hunting Park Avenue
  • 3900 Alfred

Officers went door to door in Nicetown Wednesday afternoon, handing out flyers calling for tips.

A Nicetown business owner tells NBC10's Doug Shimell random tire slashings aren't something police are likely to catch in the act.

"It can happen anywhere at any time so it's up to us, the community, to keep our eyes open because they can't be everywhere," said Terrance Goss.

There have been a string of tire slashings in several Philadelphia neighborhoods including Mayfair and Overbrook in recent months.

Police don't believe this latest incident is related to the others.
