4 Kids Among 7 Hurt in Van Crash

Emergency responders say a van crash in central Pennsylvania has sent seven people to the hospital, four of them children.

Adams County emergency management officials say the crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday in Menallen Township, Adams County.

A fire chief in nearby Bendersville tells WGAL-TV that three children with traumatic injuries were airlifted to Penn State Hershey Medical Center and a fourth child was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The chief said the children who were airlifted had facial and head injuries. All the injured children were between the ages of one and four.

Firefighters say the van overturned while trying to make a turn.

"There was a turn there. She went between a telephone pole and a wood lot and ended up in a ditch," said Shawn Melhorn with the Bendersville Fire Company told WGAL.

An investigation is ongoing.
