Police Kill “One Bad Guy”

The man's accused of knocking off at least five other gas stations

Upper Darby police shot and killed a man accused of holding up nine people in four different incidents in Delaware County Monday evening shortly after being released by Philadelphia police.

"No police were hurt. One bad guy dead," said Police Superintendent Mike Chitwood.

He also said, “It sucks, but that’s the system. They let him out.”

After being charged with auto theft, police say Aikee Holloman stole a 2006 Avalon from the 1800 block of East Torresdale Avenue and drove to Upper Darby.

Chitwood said inside the car were two guns—a 9mm and a .38 caliber revolver. Police think one of these is the gun the 23-year-old used to hold up a number of people in the area.

Patrol officers were on the lookout for the stolen car used in the other robberies. They spotted it at a Sunoco station in the 8200 block of West Chester Pike around 11 p.m.

The alleged robber saw police pull up while using a stolen ATM card and ducked to the floor, Chitwood said.

"As the officers go in, they tell 'em, 'Let me see your hands.' He reaches into his shirt. One of the officers fires several shots," hitting the suspect in the head, Chitwood said.

Holloway was unarmed when he was shot, but officers found a gun on the floor of the stolen car. The other weapon is still missing.

The officer involved in the shooting is on administrative duty while the District Attorney’s office investigates. More information on the suspect and the officer who shot him will be released Tuesday.

But for now, Chitwood is happy—knowing this outcome could have been a lot worse.

"When nobody gets hurt, no innocent person hurt and the bad guy's dead, the officers did a good job," Chitwood said.
