University of Delaware Professor Charged With Stalking

University of Delaware police say they have charged a professor with felony stalking of another university employee.

Police said Friday that 66-year-old William Harris of Churchville, Maryland, was arrested after a two-month investigation.

Harris, an associate professor of economics and associate chair for undergraduate studies in the college of business and economics, is charged with felony stalking and five counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief. Police say he repeatedly tried to puncture the tires of the victim's vehicle in a university parking garage.

Harris was arraigned on Thursday and released after posting $1,000 bail.

He is not permitted on campus and is on administrative leave pending the University's review of the case.

It was not immediately clear Friday whether Harris has hired an attorney.
