Two Men Facing Charges in Deadly Montco Home Invasion

Two men have been arrested and charged with killing a 53-year-old father during a Montgomery County home invasion Sept. 27.

Police said both Desmond O. Smith, 20, and Naadir Abdul-Ali, also 20, have been charged with murder and related offenses. Smith and Abdul-Ali are accused of breaking into a house on the 2300 block of Philmont Avenue, in Huntingdon Valley, about 11 p.m. that night and shooting Kevin Brown in the neck in front of his wife. Two children were also home at the time of the shooting.

When police arrived at the scene that night, they found Brown lying on the front lawn of the house with a gunshot wound to the neck. Investigators said the men both wore masks and forced their way into the back door of the home, then made their way upstairs to where the victim was sleeping and shot him.

Brown later died at the hospital.

Authorities said the two men targeted the home and victim.

Brown's killing was the second murder this year in Lower Moreland Township.
