Three Die Overnight in Separate Shootings

Gun violence claimed the lives of three people in separate shootings within a five-hour span overnight.

A 25-year-old man was riding in a car that was stopped at a red light in the Mayfair section of northeast Philadelphia. He was shot twice in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:21 p.m.

Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a 30-year-old man was shot as he was leaving a Chinese restaurant at 29th and Turner streets in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia. The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The third homicide occurred at about 12:45 a.m. in the Summerdale section of the city. That victim, 29, was shot in the head too, and was pronounced dead at 1 a.m.

There's no word on suspects or motives in any of the cases. Police have not yet released the names of the victims.
