Kensington DUI Hit-&-Run Suspect Heads to Court

Preliminary hearing to be held for accused DUI driver

The Bucks County man accused of being under the influence during a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Kensington the night after the suspect was arrested for another DUI is set to appear in court Tuesday.

Brett Truskin, 22, is charged with vehicular homicide for allegedly hitting and killing Gregory Loper on Nov. 18.

Loper, a father to 11 children, was hit and killed while he was riding his bike in a bike lane on 1900 block of E Lehigh Avenue in Kensington, police said.

The day before, Truskin, who is from Bucks County, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after an accident on I-95 involving three cars, according to state police. Truskin was turned over the Philadelphia Police, submitted a blood test and his car was impounded.

He was released the morning of the Kensington crash without posting bail, according to police.

That night he was back behind the wheel of his mother's car, sources told NBC10's Deanna Durante, when he allegedly ran down Loper.

"He took this man's life literally two blocks from his house," said his daughter, Markkeida Cuffee.

Truskin also ran into multiple other vehicles before jumping out of the SUV he was driving and fleeing the scene, police said.

Truskin is accused of DUI and trying to flee the scene. Witnesses say they held him until police arrived.
