Officers Shoot Pickup Truck Driver After Pennsylvania Pursuit: Police

Authorities said a pickup truck driver was shot and injured by police after a chase during which he hit a vacant western Pennsylvania house and damaged other structures and vehicles.

State police in Fayette County said the vehicle fled from Brownsville officers shortly before midnight Friday.

Police said the truck hit a light pole, drove through a fence, hit three parked vehicles, and flattened a storage shed.

Police said the driver ignored orders to get out of the vehicle and instead accelerated toward an officer, who fired and hit the vehicle.

Police said the truck then hit a house and backed up and hit another house, after which officers fired, hitting the driver in the hand and shoulder.

Police said the 40-year-old Uniontown man was arrested and will face charges.
