A state trooper was stealing money and items from drivers that he pulled over on traffic stops, Pennsylvania State Police say.
Pennsylvania State Trooper Bret Gonzalez was arrested Tuesday on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia – all misdemeanors -- after an investigation involving surveillance and undercover police officers, according to police.
The investigation revealed that 28-year-old Gonzalez was seizing money and other things from car occupants he pulled over on the road, police say.
Gonzalez is a five-year veteran of the department and was assigned to the Patrol Unit at Troop K in Philadelphia.
Gonzalez was arraigned and released after posting bail, police say.
