A robbery suspect from Philadelphia was shot and killed by a Delaware State Trooper after he allegedly dragged the trooper with a stolen car in Claymont early Sunday.
The trooper responded to a burglary alarm at the Rite Aid in Northtowne Plaza on the 600 block of Naamans Rd. around 1:30 a.m.
When he arrived, he saw a burgundy 1999 Oldsmobile parked outside the back of the store and got out of his marked Chevy Tahoe. The suspect, identified by police as 35-year-old Michael McKillop of Philadelphia, was leaving the store around the same time and quickly jumped into the car and reversed with his driver's side door open, dragging the trooper backwards, authorities said.
McKillop didn't stop there, after backing into the Tahoe, he drove forward -- trooper in tow, police said.
The trooper was able to get his weapon and shot McKillop, hitting him in the upper body.
He gave McKillop first aid until emergency medical crews arrived, according to investigators. McKillop was flown to Christiana Hospital where he died a short time later.
McKillop also allegedly stole the Oldsmobile out of the Philadelphia Police Department.

The trooper, a 16 year veteran of the Delaware State Police was treated at Wilmington Hospital and released. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation's outcome.
