‘Trenton Makes The World Takes' Bridge Getting Color-Changing Lights

Officials say the iconic "Trenton Makes The World Takes" letters on the Lower Trenton Bridge are getting new LED lights that can change color for special events.

NJ.com reports the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission wants the bridge that connects New Jersey's capitol with lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to reflect other bridges with themed lighting.

Commissioner Joe Resta says the upgrade will give the lights longer life, reduce energy consumption and help the lighting endure the weather. [[423809103, C]]

A Pennsylvania business won the lighting contract, which is not to exceed $647,000. The work is scheduled to begin mid-July and end in the fall.

The commission says the upgrade is the sixth change since the sign went up in 1911. The sign's lights were last upgraded in 2005.
