Tree Trimmer Electrocuted in Montgomery County

Police say the man was electrocuted when he accidentally touched a power line while trimming a tree

Police say a Philadelphia man was electrocuted when he accidentally touched a power line while trimming a tree Thursday.

It happened around 3 p.m. on the 1800 block of Pine Road in Abington. Police say the 47-year-old man was in the tree trimming limbs when he came in contact with a high tension electric wire.

A co-worker was able to pull a rope dangling from the man to help break the victim’s contact with the power line but he remained up on the tree, according to police.

The man was pronounced dead after firefighters from the Abington Fire Company lowered his body to the ground.

The victim’s name has not been released.
