Tracy Morgan β€˜Working Hard' on Recovery After NJ Turnpike Crash

Comedian Tracy Morgan is "working hard" on his recovery from a devastating limo bus crash that left him severely injured and killed his friend.

The "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" alum made the statement to a TMZ paparazzo as he walked with the help of a cane through New York City on Saturday.

Morgan, 46, suffered a traumatic brain injury and a broken leg, ribs and nose on June 7, 2014 when a Wal-Mart tractor trailer slammed into the actor's limousine bus along the New Jersey Turnpike in Cranbury, New Jersey. The bus, which was carrying Morgan and friends from a show at Dover Downs Casino, was stopped in traffic when it was hit. The impact flipped the vehicle.

James McNair, a 62-year-old fellow comedian, was killed in the crash and several other passengers were hurt.

Truck driver Kevin Roper was charged with Death by Auto and related offenses. Police said he was speeding before the impact and hadn't slept in 24 hours. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Morgan spent weeks in the hospital and rehab. He told TMZ he had "no comment" on whether he'll take part in a SNL 40th Anniversary reunion special set to air on NBC on February 15.

A federal lawsuit against Wal-Mart is pending. McNair's family settled a separate suit with the retail giant late last month.
