Tire Slasher Hits Vehicles Parked Around Philadelphia City Hall in Center City: Cops

A tire slasher in Center City was caught knife-in-hand late Friday by police officers on patrol, but not before he allegedly vandalized 16 vehicles, police said Saturday.

The slasher, identified only as a 28-year-old man, hit 16 vehicles in the area around Philadelphia City Hall, a police spokeswoman said. Five of the vehicles are city-owned. All were unoccupied when the suspect struck.

He was nabbed in the 1400 block of Arch Street by two police officers who allegedly saw him in the act of slashing the front driver's side tire of a sports utility vehicle. Witnesses then told police they saw the same man allegedly slashing two other nearby vehicles.
