Philly Cop Arrested for Assaulting Wife

Police say one of their own is suspended after getting into a domestic dispute

A 16-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department was suspended Tuesday with intent to fire.

Officer James Timms, 41, was suspended by Commissioner Charles Ramsey after being arrested last week after an off-duty fight with his wife in the Germantown section of the city, police said.

An investigation by Internal Affairs and the District Attorney’s Office wound up with Timms being charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment, according to police.
