Thresher Shark Washes Up in Ventnor, Dies

An injured, 14-feet long thresher shark washed up on the Washington Avenue beach in Ventnor Tuesday, according to Ventnor City Beach Patrol.

The shark was hurt, possibly by a boat propeller, officials said, and it later died.

The city disposed the shark.

Thresher sharks often swim at the surface of coastal waters, but can also swim at depths of more than 1,000 feet. They are found in the Canadian Atlantic region during summer months.
