Thousands Gather to Show Support for Alleged Abuse Victims

Penn State students join together for an emotional vigil on campus

Thousands gathered Friday night for a candlelight vigil at Old Main on the campus of Penn State.

It was an emotional scene, as students lit blue candles and joined together in song.

Instead of a rally for Saturday's game against Nebraska, the students are coming together to show their support for the alleged sexual abuse victims of former Assistant Coach Jerry Sandusky.

Students tell us the gathering is about something much bigger than football.

"I'm really glad we could come together and focus our attention on something positive which is support for those victims who have been hurt so badly," said Rebecca Miller, junior.

"We don't condone what happened and those events.  We want to separate ourselves from that and really establish the name of Penn State," said Alex Smith, junior.
