Comcast's $3 billion purchase of DreamWorks animation points to a future that looks a lot more like Walt Disney Co. than Verizon for the cable and telecommunications giant.
The acquisition, which came only a day after reporting its first quarter earnings results, drew speculation from industry experts that the Universal film studio and theme parks – which once seemed to be an afterthought of the 2011 NBCUniversal buy– will become a bigger focus for the Philadelphia-based company.
