Third Victim Dies From Revenge Shooting

Monica Shay, 58, has died five days after being shot in the head alongside family and friends

Monica Shay, one of the five people shot in the head at her Montgomery County vacation home Saturday by an ex-con with a grudge, has died of her injuries.

Shay lived in the East Village of Manhattan and worked as the head of the arts and cultural management department of Pratt Institute in Manhattan.

The 58-year-old was shot alongside her husband Paul Shay, her nephew Joseph Shay, her nephew’s girlfriend Kathrynn Erdmann and Erdmann’s 2-year-old son Gregory Saturday night.

The toddler and 43-year-old Joseph Shay died immediately. Paul Shay and Erdmann are expected to survive the execution-style shootings.

The presumed murderer, 51-year-old Mark Richard Geisenheyner, died Monday in a police standoff.

According to authorities, Geisenheyner had been planning Paul Shay’s murder for more than 15 months, but when he went to follow through there were more people than he expected at the Douglass Township home. He shot them all.

Shay and Geisenheyner knew one another and allegedly cooked up an arson/insurance fraud scam, Geisenheyner told friends. So far, there has been no evidence to contradict Geisenheyner’s reason for revenge, authorities say.
