Thief Holds Up NJ Pharmacies for Oxys

Suspect knocks over 3 stores at gunpoint in past two weeks

Authorities in South Jersey are searching for a man who they say held up a trio of pharmacies in a quest for prescription pills.

The man has knocked over the ACME Market in Pennsville, N.J., CVS/pharmacy in Woolwich Township, N.J. and Walgreen's in Monroe Township, N.J. in the past two weeks, according to authorities.

In each case, he has the same M.O. The suspect enters the store wearing a hoodie, hat and paper towel or tissue over his face, makes a purchase in the pharmacy area of the store and then pulls a gun and demands Oxycontin pills.

"He tells the pharmacist or technician 'Gimmie all your Oxycontin…I know where they are…give them to me now,'" Monroe Township Police Det. Gene Sulzbach said.

The man has netted more than 1,600 pills in the three robberies. Each pill can be sold on the street for as much as $50 and there's an ever-growing demand, police say.

Surveillance video was able to catch the suspect in the act in each case. They are asking anyone who recognizes the man to call authorities at 856.728.9800.
