Tents Confiscated at Occupy Harrisburg

Police began taking the tent-gathering campaign around 2 p.m. Friday after a warning from Mayor Linda Thompson

Police are confiscating the tents of Occupy Harrisburg protesters at a park near the state Capitol.

The Patriot News reports (http://bit.ly/tNseZ7 ) police began taking the tent-gathering campaign around 2 p.m. Friday. That was after a warning from Mayor Linda Thompson that protesters at Riverfront Park were in violation of city ordinances.

Jefferson Pepper, an organizer with Occupy Harrisburg, says he wasn't at the site Friday and couldn't immediately verify if they had been removed. About 10 to 20 people have been protesting there in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street protesters in New York

The newspaper reports that around noon the protesters were given two hours to vacate the park and remove their property. A message left with Thompson's office was not immediately returned.
