Tennis Coach Fired Amid Allegations of “Inappropriate Contact” With Player

A tennis coach at a prominent Main Line Catholic Girls School was fired amid allegations that he had inappropriate contact with one of his players.

Ty Meredith coached tennis at Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls Catholic School in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Earlier this week, the school sent letters to parents, stating there were allegations of “inappropriate contact” between a student and a coach and that the coach was fired on Monday. Officials have not yet revealed any further details on the allegations. The letter does say however that the school is cooperating with authorities on the investigation.

NBC10 reached out to Meredith on Wednesday. Meredith admitted to being fired. However, he also claimed he had no knowledge of the allegations against him.

“I know nothing about it,” he said. “I can’t tell you anything.”

The Sacred Heart tennis team has had success in recent years, with one player being named “Mainline Athlete of the Week.”

NBC10 made several calls to school officials for comment. So far we have not gotten any response.
