Temple University Names 10th President

Neil Theobald is Temple University's 10th president.

A college administrator from Indiana University has been named the next leader of Temple University in Philadelphia.

Temple trustees voted Tuesday to appoint Indiana University senior vice president Neil Theobald as the school's 10th president. He'll start on Jan. 1.

Trustees Chairman Patrick O'Connor says Theobald possesses the experience, vision and proven track record to lead Temple.

Theobald is an expert in education finance. He also serves as chief financial officer at Indiana, which has a budget of about $3.1 billion.

Temple has been led by an interim president since Ann Weaver Hart left June 30 to take the helm at the University of Arizona.

Temple serves about 39,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
