Teen on NJ School Board Charged With Assault

He was arrested, along with his dad, after a fight over a girl, according to police

An 18-year-old who got elected to the Woodbury, New Jersey school board in April, is in trouble with the law. And so is his 66-year old father, after a dispute over a girl, according to The Courier Post.

Theodore Johnson, Jr. was charged Tuesday with simple assault, inciting a riot and disorderly conduct.

The way police tell it, Theodore and another teen, Edward McKinnie got into a fight at a local park.

"They had been texting back and forth about a girl and wanted to meet there and take care of it," Woodbury Police Captain Tim Sheehan told the paper.

Two other teens and Johnson's father, Theodore Johnson, Sr., face the same charges.

The dad joined the brawl when it appeared his son might lose, according to police. Both Johnsons got into Jr.'s car, left the door open, hitting and knocking McKinnie, 18, down on the ground.

Police told The Gloucester County Times the younger Johnson also backed into a parked car before he drove off. That led to a charge of assault by auto.

No one answered the phone at the Johnsons' home Thursday morning.
