Teen Walks in Philadelphia ER with Gunshot Wound to Stomach

A teenager was fighting for his life Wednesday night after police say he walked into a Northeast Philadelphia emergency room with a gunshot wound.

Police said the 17-year-old was dropped off at Nazareth Hospital, on Holme Avenue near Roosevelt Boulevard, and walked into the ER about 6:20 p.m. The boy had a gunshot wound to his lower right abdomen and was in critical condition, police said.

Police said the teen was being airlifted to Temple University Hospital later Wednesday night.

After further investigation, police said, detectives determined that the teen had been shot on Oakmont Street near Torresdale Avenue, in Holmesburg. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear, and police continued to investigate.
