Police: Boy Dragged to His Death by Teen Driver

Tommy White, Jr. was trying out the new electric scooter his dad had just given him Saturday afternoon when he was killed – hit by a car and dragged underneath it for five blocks, according to Wilmington police.

"She dragged my child for blocks at a time and when she found out that he was under the car, she didn't have the heart to try to help," Tommy's father told The News Journal.

A 16-year old girl was behind the wheel and three other girls were in the car with her, according to Wilmington police Sgt. Mark Lemon, who told NBC Philadelphia that the driver and passengers left the scene before police arrived.

Neighbors tried to lift the car off Tommy, who had severe injuries and died at the scene.

"That female struck my child, going whatever speed she was going, and didn't have the human decency to stop," said Tommy's father.

Charges are pending against the teen driver, said Lemon.
