Gunman Shot by Police After Shooting Teen: Officials

Police officers opened fire on a shooting suspect after he allegedly shot a teenager only two blocks away.

The 19-year-old victim was on the 3000 block of Page Street around 3:55 p.m. when two unidentified gunmen opened fire.

The teen was struck once in the leg and once in the face. He was taken to the hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

Investigators say the two gunmen then ran into a nearby home on the 3200 block of Page Street. Responding police officers surrounded the home shortly after 4 p.m.

One of the suspects then walked out of the home and pointed a gun at one of the officers, according to investigators. The officer then opened fire, striking the suspect in the midsection.

The alleged gunman was taken to Temple University Hospital. Officials have not yet revealed his condition or identity.

The officer who opened fire will be reassigned as the investigation continues. Police have not yet confirmed whether the second suspect was taken into custody.
