Teen Struck by Car on Boulevard

An 18-year-old boy is fighting for his life after an accident on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police say the 18-year-old was on the 6500 block of the boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle did not flee the scene.

The teen was taken to Torresdale Hospital where he is in critical condition.

The northbound inner lanes on the Boulevard were shut down for about two hours. They have since reopened.

Last month, two separate accidents on the Boulevard resulted in the death of a woman and three of her four children and left an 11-year-old girl in critical condition.

The accidents have brought national attention once again to the issue of pedestrian and driver safety along the 12-lane highway that is frequently referred to as one of the most dangerous roads in the country.
