Delaware Girl Killed in Her Home

Four kids inside home at time of shooting

A Delaware teenager was killed by another teen, according to New Castle County Police.

15-year old Jasmine Lee died at the hospital overnight. She was shot in the head Saturday evening. Police say it happened in a bedroom inside the victim’s home which is in the 100 block of Minquadale Blvd. in New Castle.

The suspect is a 19-year old who knew Jasmine, but police said they were not girlfriend and boyfriend.

Cory L. Barbour was at the home when police and emergency crews arrived. Officers found a .357 revolver in the same bedroom where they found the victim.

Barbour had been visiting the 16-year old. Those two were in the bedroom talking. Police say they don’t know why yet, but Barbour then pulled the gun out of his waistband. It discharged once. Lee was shot in the head.

Lee lived in the home with her mother and another woman and her three children, ages 16, 13, and 7.

The two adults were not home at the time.

Police say the suspect wasn’t supposed to have a firearm because he’s had priors – felony convictions.

Barbour is charged with Manslaughter, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
