Teen Steps Into the Path of a NJ Transit Train

Authorities say a New Jersey teenager was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train.

Rail line officials tell the Asbury Park Press that 17-year-old Nicholas Kansky stood in front of a train in his hometown of Hazlet around 5:30 a.m. Monday.

"The preliminary investigation shows that the male trespasser stepped into the path of the oncoming train," NJ Transit spokesman Will Smith told the paper.

None of the riders or crew members were hurt.

But service was suspended for more than two hours Monday morning on a stretch of the North Jersey Coast Line Service.
