7 Students Hurt After Teen's SUV Rear-Ends School Bus in Delaware: Police

Seven students were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after an SUV driven by a teenager rear-ended a school bus, said Delaware State Police.

Police said the crash occurred on Sussex Highway just south of Cannon Road in Seaford on Monday morning. The Seaford School District School bus carrying 35 students was stopped at a traffic light and was beginning to proceed with traffic when a Chevrolet Equinox hit the rear of the bus.

The bus driver and 17-year-old driver of the SUV were not injured, but police said seven students ranging from 12 to 17 years old were taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital after an evaluation.

The driver of the SUV was cited for careless driving and failure to have insurance in possession. Police said the crash did not appear to be weather related.
