A teenage girl has been charged with juvenile delinquency in connection with a crash that claimed the life of her close friend and left another teen injured.
Bergen County prosecutors say the charge against the 17-year-old Emerson girl is based on conduct that would have drawn a vehicular homicide charge of if it had been committed by an adult. If convicted, she faces up to four years in a youth correctional facility.
The charge stems from a crash that occurred Wednesday night in Emerson. Authorities say the sport utility vehicle skidded for nearly 100 yards before flipping multiple times and coming to rest against a cluster of trees.
Eighteen-year-old Stephanie Morgan was killed in the accident, while the 17-year-old driver and a 15-year-old male were treated at a hospital.
