A.C. Teen Charged in Beating Death of Elderly Man

A teen was formerly charged with murder Wednesday in the beating death of a 71-year-old Atlantic City man.

Just before 2 a.m. Friday Alfred Kessleski was found kicked, punched and bloodied after being struck over the head with a milk crate outside his Atlantic Avenue home, according to Atlantic County Prosecutors.

The teen suspect then allegedly took Kessleski's wallet.

Kessleski was taken to the hospital in critical condition with broken ribs, a fractured skull and other injuries. He died from head trauma Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The 17-year-old suspect was arrested Friday night at his home around 8:45 p.m. on North Florida Avenue, according to Sergeant Monica McMenamin. His name wasn't released because of his age.

The teen is being held in a juvenile detention center charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, weapons charges (for the milk crate) and related charges.
