A former Pennsylvania high school teacher will spend at least nine months behind bars for a prom-weekend tryst with an underage student.
A Lehigh County judge on Tuesday ordered 38-year-old Gabrielle Marvelli to spend up to five years in state prison for the illicit rendezvous with a student who was a week shy of his 18th birthday.
The former Allen High School teacher admitted having an early morning sexual encounter on with the student on May 28, the same day as the school's senior prom. She pleaded guilty to a single county of corruption of a minor last month and was seeking probation.
First Deputy District Attorney Matthew Falk asked that Marvelli be treated like a male teacher who'd done the same thing with a female student.
