A teacher was arrested on Monday after he allegedly exposed himself to an underage child.

Investigators say it happened Friday in the Auto Care Center of the Wal-Mart on Route 38 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Jules Gross, 48, allegedly exposed his genitals to a child under the age of 13. Police say Gross is a Spanish teacher at Cherry Hill East High School. He was arrested on Monday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and lewdness. Police say school officials have been notified and that Gross is currently on administrative leave as he waits for his day in court.

NBC10 spoke to Gross' neighbor who says the father of two is well-liked in the neighborhood.

"He's a school teacher and I'm trying to be a teacher myself," said Chris Chen. "We talk about steps to becoming a teacher and it's very encouraging. I'd never expect him to do something like this. I don't believe the charges at all. It's got to be some kind of mistake."

Talia Rauf, Gross' former student, describes him as friendly, outgoing and supportive.

"I find it very strange and shocking," she said. "I don't know what to think of it."
