English Teacher Bought Students Beer: Police

A high school has suspended an English teacher accused of buying beer for students.

Authorities say Katherine Leigh Preusser, 33, was arrested March 23 after a car in which she was a passenger was pulled over in Middletown, Pa. Police say two 17-year-old Ridley High School students were also in the car, along with several open cans of beer.

She's facing charges for allegedly providing alcohol to students as well as marijuana possession, according to court records.

The Delaware County Daily Times reports Superintendent Lee Ann Wentzel says she learned about the incident over spring break and has suspended Preusser while an investigation continues.

An affidavit obtained by the paper states that a 17-year-old boy was driving the car and another 17-year-old was in the back seat. The girl failed a portable Breathalyzer test, according to the affidavit.

In a search of the car state police found three open cans of beer, a box with marijuana in it, a water bong and a box of undefined pills, reported the Delco Times.

A telephone listing for Preusser could not be located and it wasn't immediately clear if she had an attorney.
