NJ Teacher Allegedly Has Sex With Student

A New Jersey high school teacher accused of having sexual relations with one of his students surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon.

Thirty-four-year-old Joseph Towns of the 3900 block of Bayshore Road in Cape May was an English teacher at Middle Township High School when he allegedly had a year-long sexual relationship with one of his students, according to the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office.

He's facing numerous charges including sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact and possession of child porn.

Towns turned himself into the Prosecutor's Officer around 1 p.m. Tuesday and was immediately jailed.

His bail was set at $175,000. He has already posted bail and been released.

If convicted on all charges, Towns could face up to 70 years in jail.
