After people got close to replica boats, ate plenty of good food and had plenty of fun, Tall Ships Philadelphia Camden 2015 came to close Sunday night with a blast.
Fireworks blasted over the Delaware River for more than 20 minutes to mark the end of the three-day festival. Originally the fireworks were set for Saturday night but they were pushed to Friday due to inclement weather.
The festival, which was dampened by a soggy Saturday, a deflated massive rubber duck and some long lines as people clamored to get close to the ships Sunday, still drew thousands to waterfronts in both states. The Spruce Street Harbor Park and roller skating rink also drew visitors to Penn’s Landing while plenty of folks checked out the Adventure Aquarium and concerts as well as the chips in Camden.
The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle and a dozen other domestic and international tall ships took part in the festival offering tours and rides. Other ships that people got a close-up view of included famed ships such as the French vessel L'Hermione, Brazilian vessel Cisne Branco, Canadian Barque Picton Castle, and Philadelphia's own Gazela.
