Suspicious Package at SEPTA Station Was Trash: Officials

Investigators determined a suspicious package at a SEPTA El station that caused officials to evacuate the stop and halt train service Tuesday was trash.

Authorities began evacuating commuters from the 8th Street station on the Market-Frankford Line in Center City around 5 p.m. after the unattended package was discovered at the stop.

SEPTA officials alerted the Bomb Squad, who determined the material was simply trash.

Shuttle buses operated in place of trains between the 15th Street and Spring Garden Street stations until just after 5:30 p.m.

Passengers experienced some residual delays as service returned to normal.
