Police are searching for a “suspicious person” who allegedly approached two teenage girls in Blackwood, New Jersey.

On Thursday a 16-year-old girl told police she was walking through the parking lot of the Cherrywood Apartment complex on Cherrywood Drive and Oakmont Road. As she was walking, the girl claimed a vehicle pulled alongside of her and a male driver began to talk to her. The girl told police she ignored the man and continued walking. The driver then allegedly pulled his vehicle past the girl and into a parking spot ahead of her, reversed his vehicle and partially blocked her path. The girl told police she continued to ignore the man and walked home.

When the girl arrived home, police say she called a friend who was with her shortly before the alleged incident happened. Her friend, a 17-year-old girl, told police she was also approached by a similar person driving a vehicle that matched the description from the previous alleged incident. The 17-year-old told police a man left his vehicle and walked alongside of her to try and talk to her near the Gloucester Township Recreation Center. The girl ignored the driver who went back to his vehicle and drove away in an unknown direction.

The suspicious person is described as a dark skinned man, standing 5-foot-6. The teens also told police the man spoke with an accent. The girls also say there was another man inside the vehicle though they were unable to provide a description.

The man’s vehicle is described as a red or burgundy 4-door vehicle with a New Jersey registration.
