Robber Punches Man Outside Philly Fresh Grocer: Police

The Southwest Detective Division is asking for help in identifying and locating a robbery suspect in Philadelphia.

The suspect is wanted for a robbery at the Fresh Grocer supermarket in West Powelton on May 12. At 4:28 pm, a 54 year-old man was inside the store at 40th and Walnut Streets when police said he was involved in an argument with an unknown male.

Upon leaving the supermarket, police said the victim was followed by the suspect to the 4000 block of Filbert Street. He was punched in the face and fell to the ground. The suspect then took the man's Samsung Galaxy S5 and $8 from his pockets, and fled on foot. The suspect was last seen north on Preston Street.

The victim was transported to Presbyterian Hospital where he was treated for head injuries.

The suspect is described as a male of 23-27 years of age, standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 160 pounds, with tattoos on his face and arms. He was wearing a black T-shirt with brown and tan camouflage shorts.
