Suspect Escapes Delaware State Police

The Delaware State Police are searching for a Wilmington man who allegedly fled the parking lot of the Troop 1 headquarters in Penny Hill on Saturday around 7 p.m.

Police say that 23-year-old Richard Wright was being escorted to a patrol vehicle in order to be transported to the Young Correctional Center. Troopers had detained him earlier during a car stop after he allegedly gave them a fake name.

A computer check revealed that he was wanted by the New Castle County Police Department on theft and 3rd degree conspiracy charges.

While handcuffed at the headquarters, White reportedly fled from the parking lot and was last seen running across Philadelphia Pike into Bellefonte, Delaware.

Police say that he is 6-feet tall and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey fleece jacket, black knit cap and black gloves.

They also say that his last known address was on the 900 block of East 27th Street in Wilmington.

Troopers are asking anyone who has seen Wright to not approach him and call 911 immediately. You can also call the Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.
