Surviving Atlantic City Casinos' July Revenue Up 8.1 Percent

Atlantic City's eight casinos saw revenues increase by 8.1 percent in July, compared with a year ago.

Data released Wednesday by New Jersey regulators shows the casinos won $257.5 million from gamblers last month, compared to $238.3 million in July 2014. The numbers were aided by $12.5 million in Internet gambling winnings, an increase of more than 24 percent over July 2014.

But when the four casinos that were operating in July 2014 that have since closed are included in the calculations, the July 2015 casino revenue fell 6.1 percent from a year ago.

Among the current eight casinos, six saw increases last month; revenue fell at one; while another's remained stable.

The closings last year of Atlantic Club, Showboat, Revel and Trump Plaza reduced capacity in the market.
