Pa. Man Stunned After Not Removing Laces: Cops

Police in northeastern Pennsylvania say they had to subdue a suspect with a stun gun after he refused to remove the laces from his boots.

Authorities say Wilkes-Barre resident Robert Melovitz was arrested by officers responding to a domestic dispute Monday night. The Citizens' Voice reports that Melovitz had begun screaming at the officers and making threats, according to police.

Once at the police station, police say Melowitz refused the order to take the laces out of his boots and instead clenched his fist and took a fighting stance.

Officers told him to relax or that he would be subdued with a stun gun. After officers subdued him, he was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
