Strip Mall Catches Fire in Bucks County

Firefighters from 20 Bucks and Montgomery County worked in shifts for three hours battling flames that broke out at a strip mall in Doylestown.

Skyforce10 was over the fire as thick smoke bellowed out of the store at the 600 block of North Main Street. Firefighters took turns fighting the blaze and taking breaks to get hydrated, but just as it appeared they were getting the upper hand, more flames shot from the roof of the building.

"Because it was so deep-seated, we saw smoke and heat. Every once in a while when it found a place to break through, some fire would break out," explained Larry Brown of the Doylestown Police Department.

The fire was contained shortly after 8 p.m. Three firefighters were transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion as a precaution, as well as a bystander who fell and a PECO worker who got injured while on the job.
