Storms Will Cool Our Heat Wave

Severe storms are on the way to break the first heat wave of the season

Temperatures soared above 94 degrees in Philadelphia today, giving us our first official heat wave of the season.

A heat wave is three or more days above 90 degrees and we’ve certainly had our share of sweltering temperatures this week.

But that’s all going to change in a few hours.  Severe storms are rolling in. Some will bring flooding and hail.  The storms will also usher in some cooler temperatures for the weekend.

There are already severe thunderstorms in parts of New Jersey.  A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the entire Philadelphia region until 9 p.m.

In Margate, members of the beach patrol have advised people to leave the beach, because of severe weather.

Showers will end tonight, with a dry, more comfortable weekend ahead. It will be warm, but not nearly as hot or humid.
