Amtrak completed enough storm damage repairs and cleanup to allow limited service between Washington D.C. and Philadelphia.

The overnight thunderstorms knocked out service between the two cities. Amtrak says the numerous trees in the overhead wires at different locations as well as downed power lines led to the power loss.

After making repairs, Amtrak says they are now able to single track from Washington to south of Baltimore with all tracks open north of Baltimore.

Significant delays are expected as trains begin to move again. Crews continue to make repairs to restore full service.
