A Germantown resident adds to the memorial for Ms. Kim, who was shot and killed Saturday.
The beloved owner of Andy's Food Market, part of the 6700 block of Chew Street in Germantown, was shot and killed on Saturday.
Known as "Miss Kim" by neighborhood residents, Jung Yon Kim had allegedly caught Nicole Dolby-Becham, 27, shoplifting Saturday afternoon and confronted her outside the store.
That's when Dolby-Becham shot the 61-year-old store owner in the face four times. According to witnesses, Dolby-Becham then called police from a nearby payphone and waited by the body until they arrived.
Police say Kim was dead when they arrived.
Dolby-Becham has been arrested and charged with murder. Police say they have the weapon in custody as well.
Customers and residents that lived near the store have been creating a growing memorial of stuffed animals and flowers for Kim, who was known as a pillar of the community.
Kim's husband, who was running an errand when his wife was slain, said that he missed his wife and couldn't believe this had happened. "He said, 'My other half is gone,'" Germantown resident Linda Coston told News10.
Neighbors said they will gather for a vigil in Miss Kim's honor Sunday night.
