One Goddard School owner in Gloucester County, N.J. is steamed after discovering that several of the school's central air units were stolen overnight forcing her to close school for the day Thursday.
Staff from the Laurel Springs school tells NBC10’s Tim Furlong they tried to turn on the air conditioning Thursday morning and it wasn’t working. That’s when they realized that five central air units were missing, according to the employees.
With the temperature forecast to reach 100 degrees, owner Kelly Vicario was forced to shut down the school for the day. Parents were informed of the closure as they pulled up to drop their children off. The kids who had already been dropped off were sent home.
“We had to turn them away,” Vicario told NBC10. “It was a shame.”
An air conditioner repair man was at the school Thursday trying to replace some, if not all of the stolen units.
“We’re hoping to get units in and be open tomorrow,” said Vicario.
By 4:30 p.m. rented AC units were in place and cooling off the building, Vicario said.

Police are investigating the theft.
