Will Stepdad Who Killed Teens Get the Death Penalty?

Life or death?

That's the decision a jury must make in the case of a Philadelphia stepfather who was convicted of murdering three teens in a Juniata alley in January 2012.

Axel Barreto, 32, was convicted last week in the January 2012 deaths of 14-year-old Joshua Soto, 14-year-old Dante Lugo and 16-year-old Javier Orlandi.

Prosecutors said he opened fire on a car crowded with teens following months of hostility between them and another group that included Barreto's stepsons.

The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/1ap6ZHF ) says jurors are to begin deliberations Wednesday following legal instructions from the judge.

Barreto apologized to the families of the victims Tuesday, saying β€œI never meant for this to happen.”

His 10-year-old stepdaughter pleaded with jurors β€œPlease don't make him die. He's always been there for everybody.”
